::recipe:of:the:day::

So I haven't done a recipe of the day for a while and decided to finally do one. This one I found on the magazine Prevention's website. It looks super delicious and I'll be trying this one asap. I do know that salmon and parmesan taste beyond great together.
Hope you enjoy! :)

Salmon with a Twist
Creamy Parmesan sauce adds a rich flavor to this salmon recipe
By Miriam Rubin

A delicious, nutritious dinner doesn't get much easier than this--and only one pan to clean! Salmon topped with a creamy Parmesan sauce roasts in the oven alongside a medley of green beans and corn.

*-* washed and trimmed fresh green beans (produce section)
*-* frozen corn kernels (frozen foods aisle)
*-* skinless salmon fillets (fish counter)
*-* shredded Parmesan cheese (cheese or dairy case)

Heat oven to 450°F. Empty a 12-ounce bag of fresh green beans onto a rimmed baking sheet sprayed with oil. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, toss, and spread out on pan. Roast until browned in spots, about 10 minutes. Add 2 cups corn, mix with beans, and push to one end of pan. Put four 4- to 6-ounce salmon fillets on other end of pan. Season with salt and pepper. Mix 1/4 cup mayonnaise with 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan. Spread over salmon. Sprinkle 2 more tablespoons of cheese on top. Roast until topping is golden at the edges and salmon is just done, 7 to 9 minutes.

(Serves 4.)

So, it's been a little while since I last posted, I have since got a laptop so that I could blog more. But, at the same time, my lovely Mom came down for a visit ( to Canada ) from her new home California.
California cannot be expressed with words...it is absolutely amazing. And don't just think Hollywood here and celebrities...also remember the beaches, the views, the valleys and mountains, the vineyards and palm tree's. I always adore going for a visit there. But mostly I go there for my parents, obviously to visit.
My Mom is one of the most stylish people I know. She is ALWAYS put together and looks classy and elegant, funky and fun. She can do it all and with such ease. She is one of my style icons, and I guess that's where me and my sister get all our incredible idea's for clothes. Seriously, half the time people ask me "Where did you get that shirt/boots/bag?!" - my reply?: "My Mom." She is utter uber cool to the max, fancy, laid back, creative, eclectic and just plain awesome.

This pic is for me Mama, mostly because, I think this is LA, and the model is Anouck Lepere, I basically just wanted to post a photo of the day that reminded me of *home*.
The source for this image is unknown. But I really like it.

This is a pick that my Mom chose...the photo is quite beautiful and I am not quite sure what the source is. But it is a great shot and she had to go through over 1,500 photo's and she thought this was the best. So here it is! :)

I am absolutely in love with Lara Stone and plan on posting an interview up soon of her and Marc Jacob's from Interview magazine, which you guys will love. She is super down to earth, gorgeous in her own unconventional way and totally real.
There is something that draws me to this gap-toothed, light eye-browed beauty. I just can't help it. I think they all were totally right when they said that she is the next "it" thing. And on top of that, they say that she is "bigger" then all the other models. C'mon people. Her body is amazing and her face is perfection!
This is my photo of the day, and don't doubt that I will put more of Lara up. She is an absolute gem in my books. Lara! I adore you!

Lipstick

Now I know the "desert rose" look is "in", think golds, sandstone, nude and light shimmering peach colours along with tawny browns. But why not be the ballsy woman in your office or group of friends and go for a dramatic, classic, "old hollywood" look? Basic eye, strong brows, and eye-popping lip colour. Reds, browns and sunburnt browns, oh my!
I fell in love with lipstick in the beginning of Summer, I know, I know, who the heck wears heavy lip colour in freakin humid weather?! But listen , it was no muss no fuss, and it can be for any season, Fall or Winter. How it may seem like dramatic lip colours aren't in, that's not the case, I'm just stating that not enough ladies wear it. There are many reasons why you should try a show or crowd-stopping colour.

Number 1: You will be the centre of attention, it is a known fact that people are attracted to the colour red in general...now put those on one of the most sensuous parts of your body, your smackers, you're bound to draw attention.

Number 2: You essentially don't have to put on any other makeup. Throw on some lipstick, curl and coat those lashes and......that's it. Simply easy...simple! Not to mention, quick.

N
umber 3: You don't need more reasons then the previous two, now do you? There may be some moaning and groaning out there. One I can hear already..."I don't look good in lipstick", or, "I'm afraid people will stare...not in a good way!"...First of all, everyone looks good in lipstick, you just got to figure out your perfect shade and it's trial & error. It took me three shades, but eventually I found my perfect colour.
And yes, people may stare, but c'mon, you're a sexy, confident, in-charge woman! NO ONE will say "What in gawd's name are you wearing?!", instead they may be jealous that they don't have the courage to pull it off.

And lipsticks are pretty much always cheap...unless, of course, you decide to get Tom Ford's luxe red shades from his tightly edited collection - 12 shades to be exact - I'd probably still prefer to choose a gorgeous shade for $7.99 as opposed to $52 (no offense Mr. Ford) and hey, if the lipstick isn't exactly "moisturizing", then dab some vaseline and let it semi-dry before adding your luxe colour.

But there are other classic complaints when regarding lipstick, smuding, smearing, lipstick on teeth, on clothes, etc. Well, no one said it would be easy, "Beauty is Pain" may not be a correct term but it ain't easy being a bombshell.
Not only that but our lovely cosmetic companies have come out with no smudge lipstick. IE. Infallible LipColour by Revlon. Seriously ladies, it is literally smudge-proof. You put that colour on those baby's, you can smooch, eat, drink, whatever! and it ain't coming off.

So go on my darlings, take a dare ( actually a double dare ) and go out there and pick a daring colour and put your lips where they deserve, for once, in the spotlight.

::photo:of:the:day::

It's hard to choose a photo of the day sometimes. There are so many different photo's and editorials out there to choose from, so the countless photograph's perused through make me want to just post about everything up.
I will be posting more editorials and spreads up in the future.
What I like about fashion editorials, is not just the story of the photographer, or the models, but of the clothes. And to be honest, you can always make up some sort of story to these spreads half the time. It's like an imaginary world almost, you can place yourself in that instant, imagine yourself wearing the clothes and being in a certain situation as your model portrays, and that's what's so great about fashion and fashion magazines. That it takes you away from that reality for just a moment, and turns you into a glamazon, a trophy wife, a jet-setter, a famous celebrity or a plain old beauty.
That's not to say all of you aren't beautiful. All you globetrotters are beyond gorgeous. :) xo
What do you guys think the story behind this photo is?  -S*

What do you think is the most attractive part of your sound?

"The originality and melodic tone of the records and the vibe that it brings. All my records have intense feeling. Even when I’m just rapping, they all have an intense, intriguing feeling, that I think people grab a hold of."  - Kid Cudi as told to PreFix Magazine

This is one of my favorite editorials...for the magazine "Pop", I remember saving this a long long time ago onto my computer and then burning onto a CD so I don't know who the credit would go to. But it's absolutely gorgeous and features the lovely Christina Ricci. Hope you enjoy looking at this beauty as much as I did ~ and fall quickly in love with this editorial as fast as I did.

Mmmmm...Autumn Tasties. It is officially Fall...well, not technically, but it sure feels like it, after this Labour Day weekend we had cool temperatures and dark clouds that were allusive to millimeteres of water showering down for the sky. Maple scents, vanilla and clove.
This recipe is sure to have your house smell absolutely heavenly or lack of a better word, like Autumn. This was taken from a great little magazine called Prevention, and their website has a tun more delicious meals that are healthy and clean. So here is a little Autumn Tasty for you.

So a little while ago I got a tweet from Women's Health magazine with a link to follow on "10 Things You Can Do with Tomatoes" ~ I am a big tomato fan ( if they're firm, hate mushy tomatoes ) so I was pretty excited to see what they would come up with and the very first recipe was the most appealing. No muss, no fuss, great appetizer for when the girls are over and you're going to be watching the second installement of Sex and the City on a Friday night. Credit's all go to Women's Health Magazine's website, I just decided that I would share this quick lil recipe with you since I haven't done that in a while. I personally haven't tried this recipe out as of yet, but if you happen to do so before me then let me know! And I will keep you posted as well. Enjoy! :)

Drunken Little Tomatoes with Citrus Dill Salt
Place 1 pint multicolored cherry, pear, and grape tomatoes in a shallow baking dish. With a toothpick, prick 4 holes in each. Pour 1/4 cup vodka over tomatoes and let stand overnight. While tomatoes marinate, combine 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon each finely grated lime and lemon peel, and 1 teaspoon fresh dill in a clean spice grinder or mini chopper and pulse until blended. Roll tomatoes in salt mixture just before serving. Makes a great appetizer for guests.
