::eating:clean::

We should be eating the freshest of vegetables! If your Grandparents didn't eat it, then you shouldn't either!

So...I am quite excited to be starting school soon. I will be taking holistic nutrition. Something that interests me a great deal other then fashion, lol. I also think it is going to help me become more self aware of the decisions I make regarding my own health and the health of those closest to me.
It's a tricky subject. This health thing. Everyone thinks that what they are doing is just fine - eating junk and whatnot as long as it is in moderation. That's so not true. We shouldn't be eating man made fats and all this processed crap in our regular diets. A piece of dark chocolate, glass of red wine or small portion of red meat is moderation. Not fried chicken and pizza.
It was funny - I heard someone say the other day that this particular person they know is obsessed with exercising. Obsessed!
I was just about to say "obsessed is what the lazy call the determined". And it's the truth. I find that people try and find every possible excuse in the book to lead sedentary lifestyles.
Their physical limitations, they are too busy, eating healthy is too expensive. I mean what a pile of horse shit! These are not just excuses! These are reiterations to yourself and everyone else that you'd just rather sit on your bum in front of the tv then do something healthy for yourself.
I am not gunna lie. I have been guilty of this as well in the past and motivation can sometimes be a pain in the ass to grasp but it should be looked as a lifestyle. No ifs ands or buts!

Tosca Reno - the Clean Eating lady! You can pick up her books to get a kickstart on this whole clean eating thing or pick up the magazine!

Not only do we need motivation but we also need determination. We need to stay determined in achieving our goals. Geeze - if you want to eat an entire cheesecake in one sitting after reaching your goal then go for it! But I am pretty sure that you won't want to. Once you begin eating clean you experience a myriad of differences in how you feel about yourself, emotionally and physically. How your clothes fit - and this boosts confidence too! It's completely 100% true when people say you feel fantastic after a workout because you simply do. Your body is thanking you for pushing it to the limits. Just like our minds can get bored so can our bodies. They just tell us in different ways. Aches and pains. Not able to do one push up. Huffing and puffing up one flight of stairs. If you experience this it isn't because you have limitations. It is because you're eating like crap and you'd rather watch another episode of The Big Bang Theory instead of going for a walk.
It really is hard to get yourself into a routine because you do get off track at times but there really shouldn't be any excuse not to at least go for a walk or do some body weight exercises during commercial breaks if anything!
I am getting back into health(ier) eating tomorrow and to the gym once again and I know that when 5pm rolls around I will try to think of every possible excuse in the book not to go but it HAS to be done and once you have that mentality and you get yourself into that mindset then you are set and on your way to achieving your personal goals.
Once I start school I will be able to share more with you all the things I learn and some tidbits regarding eating clean and eating right for your mind, body and spirit and to lead a long and healthier life.
So yea...I am pretty excited. :)

On another note -
I didn't end up getting my phone on Friday. :( I really hope it comes in on Monday. So fingers crossed for me! I know. First world people problems.
And on another note from that -
Some people are just plain old meanies. So if you are going through some troubles with certain people in your life just know you're not the only one! Maybe I'll delve into this a little further in the future.

The weekend is flying by and drawing to a close and it's back to another week of work. Which I don't mind since I love where I work.
Maybe Trav and I will go for a walk or go to our local farmers market to pick some veggies up.

Happy Sunday lovelies!

::renner::

My hormones are out of whack after watching the retardedly gorgeous Jeremy Renner in "The Hurt Locker" last night.
Omg.
I can't wait to watch him in the Bourne movie. I think I need to catch up on the old ones first, don't I?
Sorry I didn't post over the weekend...rather, I technically did...I wrote this whole thing out yesterday but didn't post it. So will be posting that for you all to read.
Other then that, I hope I get my phone today!

Here is our photo of the day! Of course Jeremy is in it. <3 font="font">
Also Lara Stone. This photo was taken by Steven Klein for Vogue India {February 2011}. I believe this editorial was in the US version as well. Doesn't he look so freakin' HOT!?!

I so wish I was Lara in this picture.
Geeze.

::smell:goods::

If you know me, then you will know that I am obsessed with smell-goods. OBSESSED! I am constantly on the hunt for some great candles, fantastic sprays - I am even a perfume addict and hoard so many different scents. Because it all depends on your mood for the day as to what you are going to wear on your skin. Of course there are certain smells that are off-limits depending on the season. For example, things like vanilla bean, pinecones, cinnamon, Chanel are for Winter. Pumpkin, caramel, apple, Gucci Rush 2 are strictly for Fall.
So on and so forth. You get the gist of it.
And my favourite season for smell-goods is Fall. I adore Fall scents. Probably my favourite by far - although Christmas is a close second.
So I patiently wait until Bath and Bodyworks {the best smell-good store of life} releases their Fall collection.
LooOooOooOove!
And they finally have! So here are a few things that I am going to be picking up immediately to make myself ~ and my living room ~ smell fantastic!

These are a few that I want to pick up and if I do I will go back and edit and let you know what they actually smell like.
Their 3-wick candles are some of the best when comparing to candle companies like Yankee Candles. They last quite a while and your entire place smells amazing!

I can only imagine how this smells! Probably perfect! Great to put on a chilly night with a cup of cocoa...pretending your out there by a fire roasting some marshmallows. ;)

I know that I said that cinnamon is the Winter/Christmas scent but when it comes to baked goods, I mean...come on. I'll let this one slide. ;)

Omg. I want to eat that cupcake.

One of those best things about Fall is when Starbucks releases their Pumpkin Spiced Latte...and this one sounds just as good. I can only imagine how delightful this ones smells ~ and caramel too! Yumm.

I love when the leaves turn colour in the Fall. I have an idea what this might smell like...but not 100%...we'll see when I hit the store up.

Good ol' Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin ~ their most popular scent.

I wanna go picking for apples now! This one must smell so fresh.

Uhh...do I really need to say anything? Lol.

If this smells anything like the apple crumble that my Mom makes then everyone is in for a real treat! Although when my Mom makes apple crumble it was during the cold Wintery months around Christmas time as a treat, so I might just save this one for the Winter. :)

I might try some spiced cider this year.

Spice. In general. A gorgeous layered smell.

Who doesn't want their house to legit smell like an Autumn day??

Leaves.
They are Fall.

Woah.
Wait...

What???
This isn't your quintessential Fall scent, but what the what?! If this smells like a freaking french baguette then I am ALL over this like white on rice!

So these are just SOME of the candles that B&BW has out right now. It is going to be hard to choose my favourites but I think it can be done. As buying all of them is going to hurt the wallet a little bit...
I mean, 2 for $20 is quite the deal...but the numbers can start climbing there!
Make sure also to be careful...the 2 for $20 deal isn't always on and is usually fleeting before it goes back to their retail ~ regular ~ price, which is $19.50. So pick 'em up now!

Ps. Happy iPhone day. :P

::butternut:squash:soup::

I haven't posted a recipe in quite a while ~ but I have come across some amazing cookbooks with so many incredibly and mouthwatering dishes to try that I wil have to start posting them all up this weekend. As well, with the newest issue of Everyday Food ~ jampacked with amazing recipes. And I'd like to get my hands on the newest Fall issue of Food Network's magazine ~ so many seasonal dishes that are must to try this Autumn.

My bosses are Phillipino and in the month that I have worked for them they have showed me so many different things to try ~ such as sushi {I am obsessed!} and suggestions to just try new things; so I have been trying more Asian inspired dishes. My problem though is I need to expand my seasoning repertoire and add in more things so that my food doesn't always taste the same. This is what I am currently struggling with when trying new stirfrys and such. Mind you ~ last nights stirfry regardless was pretty fantastic. So I have been delving more and more into that cuisine. But since Fall is around the corner and here in Canada we are beginning to feel it already, I decided that I am going to share some seasonal recipes with you as well.

Travis tried butternut squash soup once when away on a conference and has raved about it since. I have never tried it before and never bothered to even try the recipe but have decided that I will do that now since I am on a real culinary adventure kick right now. For some reason also my favourite season to try new things and kick back relax with some cider and Food Network is in the Fall. As well, all the new shows come out during this season so that might have something to do with it also. ;)

Anyways, Martha Stewart's Everyday Living website is beginning to get into the Autumnal spirit as well and I found this recipe there. Make sure to give it a try and let me know what you think. I will also give this recipe a try this weekend and give you my thoughts on it.

Bon Appetit!

Pureed Butternut Squash Soup
Butternut squashes have a hard rind and a golden orange flesh. Similar to other types of winter squash, such as acorn, they are their best from early Fall through Winter.
Everyday Food, October 2004

Prep Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, chopped
1 piece {2 inches} fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2-3/4 pounds small butternut squash, prepared and cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
Coarse salt and ground pepper
Sour cream {optional}
Spicy pumpkin seeds

Directions
1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook onion until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add ginger, garlic, and squash; cook, stirring occasionally, until fragrant, 6 to 8 minutes. Stir in 4 cups water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer until squash is tender, 20 minutes.

2. Puree soup in two batches. When blending hot foods, allow the heat to escape to prevent splattering. Remove the cap from the hole of the blender's lid, and cover with a dish towel. Stir in juice and 1-1/2 teaspoons salt. Serve hot, with sour cream, pepper, and pumpkin seeds, if desired.

Sounds like a simple enough recipe ~ and one that would be wonderful on a chilly Fall night. :)

::apple:bonanza::

I am sure that all of you have heard about the new iPhone 5 coming out this Friday {September 21st}. Now I am not one that is completely and utterly tech-savvy, nor do I really obsess over things like this but I NEED this phone! Probably because my 4 is sloooooowly on it's way out {buttons not cooperating}.  I think the reason why I feel like I need this phone is because it is my "lifeline"...I am one of those people that is obsessed with their phone. I have it on me 24/7 and it is attached to me wherever I go. It is also my communication to my family who live all over the place..not only my phone, but Skype, FaceTime, Twitter, Facebook, my blog, Tumblr, email...everything. So it is perfect that I have this little portable thing to take with me everywhere and I can stay connected to them.

I want the 64gb white one...
Anyways...this is what has been {mainly} on my mind lately as well as just trying to get motivated to get back to the gym...yes ladies and gents, I have strayed yet again.
On another note, I am loving my job and am really enjoying learning new programs. Right now I am focusing on PhotoShop and Illustrator. I made some way cool plowers in Illustrator the other day, nothing too special but for me - it is amazing. Lol.

I know I have also strayed from the blogosphere so I am going to post at least once a day, even if it is something miniscule...so yea!

That is all.
