::yesterday::

Hello all my globetrotters! I'm writing this blog post from bed. It's not even 6am yet! I am feeling unwell and am contemplating taking the day off.

I just got scared shitless by a spider that was staring at me while I tried to feed my kitty cat. He wasn't a small one either. :/ hate how they pop out of nowhere.
Anyways, the weekend went by sooo fast. Monday mornings I am always riddled with anxiety for no reason at all. It's severely disconcerting at times.
On Saturday my cat decided to poop himself (new food maybe) and he is a long haired white chichi so this was bad news. Thankfully I caught it before he jumped around on my new bed. I bathed him much to his chagrin and he was all cleaned up. Pissed off. But clean. I leave for a bit, come back and he peed on my brand new goose down duvet that I haven't even had for a month! I was very upset as this has to go to the dry cleaners. I am soooo glad the guy that sold us the mattress at the brick told us we should get the mattress cover. This baby soaks anything up and the cat pee didn't even touch the new mattress. This was such a relief for me as I was already quite upset with Sky for doing the deed on my new bed. He knows where his litter box is!!
Anyways, had to take my duvet to the dry cleaners. Apparently the woman that worked there hates her job and was less then thrilled about my urine soaked duvet. I get it back tomorrow.
Thank goodness. I miss it! So warm and heavy.
Anyway!
The bf played a lot of his new game Battlefield 3 which he is becoming increasingly agitated with as it's more of a real life type game where if u get shot once youre donezo. This doesn't sit well with him.
I told him to try the new games my Ma and I got him in Cali like James Bond but noooOooOoo, it doesn't strike his fancy in the slightest at the moment.
It was a quiet day. Watched Horrible Bosses which was freakin hilarious - finally a funny movie!! And then began Bad Teacher which stopped working halfway. Super annoying.
Will have to find a better one today.
All in all it was quite the eventful but quite the quiet weekend. Oh and the Leafs lost on Saturday to the Bruins in a brutal 7-0 game. Pathetic. I know. I'm not even going to get into it.
I guess I could keep going with my rambling as I sit here, my stomach is becoming increasingly irritated and I feel like I may barf but my trusty phone hasn't gotten in the way.
Oh. I was going to say, I live with my bf.  We moved in together after 3 months of dating. Yea some of you may think that was the stupidest thing we could have done but I am beyond grateful that it worked out for us. For whatever reason we are just a perfect fit. The first year was a bit volatile but the rest was history. :) Anyways, my boyfriend is the type of guy that even if he is sneezing all over the place, puking or bleeding he will go to work. So I feel guilty when I stay home if I have a tummy ache. Now usually if and when I get sick...I get SICK. I am out of commission for at LEAST a week.
I need to count my pennies and make sure everything is in order when I am feeling off.
Everyone feels off often...but you do realize when you're going to be off the scale.
I feel like I may be coming down with something.

This was my post from yesterday that I never got a chance to share with you guys so I'm posting it today.
Must remember to pick up clean duvet today...hope I can find my receipt. :|

A little sunshine-y editorial for you guys on this cold and dreary Tuesday morning.

::tomato:side::

This next recipe is ridiculously easy to make. I love tomatoes - only when they are cool and firm. If they're mushy then I am outta here...and I hate them roasted or chunky in spaghetti sauces. That's just me. Lol.
My boyfriend isn't a huge tomato fan either...but sometimes he'll go ahead and eat 'em if I make 'em. :)

Bon Appetit!

::cookery:books::

What a start to my Thursday morning. Everyone is super on edge and just bickering with one another. I don't think people realize that it just ruins others' day. I am a firm beleiver in not bringing your crap into work.
Anyways - I am definitely not going to get into that.

The Leafs won last night. :) Yay!
Another Leaf game tonight! I am hoping the boyfriend doesn't have to stay at work too late. He is getting tired - work is catching up to him. Poor guy. It's definitely getting busier for him as everyone is frantically trying to get their winter tires on before the first snow. Which by the way we had +18C yesterday! That is insane! It's November! Lol. That's alright though, not complaining!
Mind you - I do want some snow...I don't do well with cold...but it's going to get me into the Christmas spirit, for sure.

What else, what else...oh, I will share with you guys some books that are totally on my wishlist. I need to get these sooooon! I am obsessed with cookbooks and love reading them just like an actual novel. Some of them do have seriously great little stories throughout them. And I love anything and everything to do with food and looking at pictures of 'em so it's a match made in heaven. :)

First off, Made In Italy by David Rocco - I love his show. I can't really catch it half the time on the Food Network for whatever reason but I did get his other cookbook recently and there are a tun of recipes in there that look just mouth-wateringly delicious. A lot of the recipes are {obviously} Italian.

Next, we have Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen: Cookin' for Trouble. Another one that I adore. I LOVE this woman's show on the food network. It's funny and totally interesting to watch. I loooove Nadia G. She also reminds me of the Mob Wives with her accent so there is another reason why I love her. Lol.
Her previous cookbook also had a tun of delicious recipes and some that I have tried out and were huge hits with people.

The next cookbook I have been waiting for this chef to come out with for forever...it's called Everyday Exotic: The Cookbook: It's About Flavour by Roger Mooking. Love his show and love how he uses all these intensely different spices in his recipes. I am definitely looking forward to getting this one and seeing what sort of recipes are scattered throughout.

I also have Dinner Chez Moi by Laura Calder in my wish list...I am a bit on the fence with this one. I do enjoy her shows {not my favorite though} but she does seem to make a lot of very elegant food that seems like it would take an eternity to make and would also entail a crapload of dishes. I guess I'll read some more reviews on this one and decide later on if I am going to purchase it.

Just wanted to share with you guys these cookbooks. :) They have recently come out and I will definitely be getting these ones from Amazon - way cheaper through their site as opposed to buying them in bookstores.

::a:little:fish::

One of my favorite types of fish is definitely salmon. When I was growing up we usually only ever had salmon on special occasions, since it's quite expensive; especially for a family of four.
Lately though, I have been buying salmon more often...usually when it is on sale and it's gotten a bit cheaper since back in the day. I also love smoked salmon and try and get that too - cheaper then fresh.
Regardless, I love the creamy texture and mild taste of it. It goes great with pretty much anything. In a salad, on a bagel, as the star of the show with a side of veggies or mashed potatoes. I personally would never eat salmon from a can - the only canned fish I'll eat is tuna...
This next recipe calls for it as the main focus and looks delicious.
It also incorporates capers - which up until a year or so ago I would NEVER touch but it is good and packs quite the punch with regards to flavor.
Salmon and capers are definitely best friends; along with dill. :)
You can probably substitute a lot of the ingredients if you wanted to; either way, give it a shot and let me know what you think. :)

Bon Appetit!

Salmon Salad with Parsley and Capers
A beautifully poached piece of salmon, clean tasting and light, is a terrific summer meal. The technique really has only one rule: Don't overcook. The salmon should be cooked ever so gently in barely simmering liquid until the center is just slightly translucent.
Everyday Food, June 2009

Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons red-wine vinegar
3 tablespoons chopped capers
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
3 6-ounce fillets simple poached salmon
1/2 cup fresh parsley

Directions
In a large bowl, combine red onion, red-wine vinegar, capers, olive oil, and salt. Let stand 10 minutes. Add salmon and parsley.

Definitely think this is one of the easiest recipes I have ever posted. Lol.
