::little:book:club::

I should probably start my own book club...considering the amount of books I have and my extreme obsession with them, from the smell to the size of text or font to the actual stock that is used. I think that is why cookbooks are some of my favourites to go through.

They are such gorgeous books. Lots of text that doesn't leave you bored {I mean, who doesn't like reading about food!?}, and it can evoke every sense when you are reading. The full colour pages. They are all just so gorgeous. Well, the ones I have are anyways. But not all of them have to have full colour pictures and nice paper for it to be a good cookbook. My Mom got me a little cookbook, no pictures, just regular text on regular paper when I first started getting into food and cooking and I will cherish that book forever.
I love to share books...unless you crack the spine, spill something on them or bend the corners, then you can guarentee I am not lending you my books again {lol!}. I love to keep them in perfect and pristine condition. They are my babies after all. I take such care of my literature.
Anyways...I promised another list of books that are pretty popular out there right now ~ so pick a favourite, order it up on Amazon and snuggle under the covers on a cold and rainy day and let the stories or pictures take you away. :)
Ps. The descriptions that I promised you guys is from the Amazon site.

I pretty much own all of Tyler's books. He is by far one of my most favourite cookbook authors ~ I just wish his show was still on the Canadian Food Network! But anyways...his books are always gorgeous, rustic and packed with delicious, homey and comforting recipes.

Tyler Florence Family Meal: Bringing People Together Never Tasted Better by Tyler Florence {16.00 CA}.
The star of the popular Food Network series Tyler’s Ultimate, Tyler Florence is famous for championing simplicity, freshness, and culinary honesty in cooking. Now, after more than a decade spent tracking down some of the world’s most flavorful recipes (and debunking a generation of novice chefs’ culinary fears), Tyler brings it all back home to celebrate the pleasures of cooking with wholesome, local ingredients. His easy yet toothsome recipes exemplify the message that restaurant chefs from coast to coast have embraced: Local foods, cooked in season and prepared simply but with care and thought, are the best meals you can eat anywhere.
In Tyler Florence Family Meals Tyler recounts the journey that brought him from the home cooking he grew up loving to the “haute-homey” restaurant cuisine that first won him culinary acclaim, to the pleasures of the world’s great cuisine as showcased on his Food Network shows, and ultimately back to his roots as he prepares to open a restaurant while raising a family of young children. He speaks with his signature casual charm about how they can improve their cooking and eating habits to bring about real changes in their health and in their attitude toward food.
Better than any other chef at work today, Tyler knows what people want to eat and how to help them achieve spectacular results without stress or strife. With this all-new collection of bold and exciting recipes, any cook can rid herself of her culinary fears and discover why, when it comes to fine dining, there is no place like home.

This guy has been sitting on my wish list for a while and is met with rave reviews. I love books like this, especially after {yea, you guessed it} the book by Gail Simmons. :)

The Soul of a Chef: The Journey Toward Perfection by Michael Ruhlman {$12.64 CA}.
In his second in-depth foray into the world of professional cooking, Michael Ruhlman journeys into the heart of the profession. Observing the rigorous Certified Master Chef exam at the Culinary Institute of America, the most influential cooking school in the country, Ruhlman enters the lives and kitchens of rising star Michael Symon and renowned Thomas Keller of the French Laundry. This fascinating book will satisfy any reader's hunger for knowledge about cooking and food, the secrets of successful chefs, at what point cooking becomes an art form, and more. Like Ruhlman's The Making of a Chef, this is an instant classic in food writing-one of the fastest growing and most popular subjects today.

I lent my Mom one of my other Italy books and she loved it. All the Italian books that I get I am never disappointed with. They are gorgeous stories...even the description transports you to a little village in Italy. The writing is usually superb. So I am eager to add this guy to my list of favourites. :)

Home to Italy by Peter Pezzelli {$14.67 CA}.
In this delightful, moving debut novel, Peter Pezzelli brings to life the earthy sensuality of Tuscany-- the smell of just-baked bread wafting through the village piazza; the shopkeepers sweeping the sidewalks under the warm, early morning sun; groups of cyclists dotting the mountain roads--and spins a story of May-December romance as sharp and delicious as the olives of Villa San Giuseppe. . .

A little random in this list...I know, but it is the perfect book for bubble baths on a cold and rainy day with a candle on or something. Just a little R&R with Harlan Coben. :)

Miracle Cure by Harlan Coben {$10.35 CA}.
In a clinic on Manhattan's Upper West Side, a doctor has dedicated his life to eradicating a devastating disease. One by one, his patients are getting well. And one by one, they're being targeted by a serial killer.
There's only one cure, but many ways to die...

Another random one for this list...but to be honest, I am always trying to get a better handle on my anxiety and I hear good things about this book. And I like the cover. :P I know I know, don't judge a book by it's cover. But I am allowing myself this one. Lol.

The Mindful Way through Anxiety: Break Free from Chronic Worry and Reclaim Your Life by Susan M. Orsillo {$12.15 CA}.
You can't just "get over" anxiety. In fact, the very things most people do to try to feel better--avoiding feared situations, pushing worry out of mind--only make the problem worse. Leading psychologists Susan M. Orsillo and Lizabeth Roemer present a powerful new alternative that can help you break free of anxiety by fundamentally changing how you relate to it. With clarity and compassion, this book describes clinically tested mindfulness practices specifically tailored for anxiety in its many forms. Learn step-by-step strategies for gaining awareness of anxious feelings without letting them escalate; loosening the grip of worry and fear; and achieving a new level of emotional and physical well-being. Free audio downloads of mindfulness exercises plus other resources are available at the authors' website, www.mindfulwaythroughanxietybook.com.
If you guys have checked out any of the books already then let us know what you thought of them! I am really excited about the cookbooks and hope to get my hands on the Kumai ones ASAP and I PROMISE I will write an extensive review of that book. :)
I also have a terrible confession to make, I don't think I plan on going to the gym tonight, I think I will go home, prep food and begin my studies since I am eager to start them. I really need to focus on clean eating too...but will try and make it to the gym at least 3 times a week. Especially since my boss is going to be going to the same gym as I am and we can go together! Super excited. And we can motivate one another. :)
Anyways!
Always welcome to leave comments!
